We represent clients charged with felony crimes against persons, including murder, rape, manslaughter or robbery, as well as those charged with felony crimes against property, including larceny, arson and burglary. The Ucheomumu Law Group also defends clients charged with misdemeanor crimes such as simple assault, theft, trespassing, destruction of property, perjury, conspiracy, professional misconduct (by public officials) and disorderly conduct, including resisting arrest. In addition, we defended clients charged with sexual offenses, including child abuse and child pornography. We also have experience pursuing expungement, and coram nobis on behalf of clients seeking to purge their records of past charges. We ensure that clients understand their rights and receive every possible protection available under the law.

One of our finest example of successful litigation in criminal cases involved a client that was being investigated by the FBI and the U.S. Attorney was poised to bring an indictment. We sat down with the U.S. Attorney, laid out our case and headed off the indictment. On another case, the police in a major city executed a search warrant by invading the house of our client, and seizing a throve of computers and digital equipment the police contended were used in allegedly downloading child pornography. We flew out there, and with downloading child pornography, but the alleged photos was in an encrypted computer. We defended by filing a civil lawsuit against the police to return the seized computer equipment. The police responded by asking for the password to the encryption, of which we declined to provide under the Fifth Amendment. The strategy worked, the police had to return the computers and no charge was ever brought.
